Just informations for those who travel...
There are many sites one can look at to find real deals to travel. An excellent one is flyauction.com some times it is not available but keep on looking it's worth the time.
An other site I enjoy when it comes to looking for hotels is venere.com That is most interesting for Europe but they also list hotels in Canada and the US.
And now a little story about airport fun.
Those of you who live on the east coast certainly know about weather related flight cancellation. This winter was one we will all remember; 1000's of flights canceled, terminal building full of passengers looking to go back home and nowhere to go but the floor to sleep. Well that is a normal airport operation on days like those where the sky falls on your head. As I worked in airport for a major airline in the past years I can assure you those situations are being handled in a different way as the years go by and economic factors are being re-evaluated in consideration of competition, the fuel cost added to salaries and airport fees.
On the other hand, if your flight gets canceled due to a mechanical, a delayed crew or for any reason not related to the so called "uncontrollable reasons" then you are entitled to a compensation. Yes in America the airlines will pay for the hotel, meals, in the event you are denied boarding you may even get 500$and re-booked on the next available. That does not really help if your one week vacation is already amputated of a day but THEY feel they did there best. In Europe though the laws are slightly improved. If you are connecting and your flight is delayed or canceled you will get the hotel, the meals and up to 1500 Euros based on the time factor. In many cases that will not only pay for your vacation but allow you to extend it.
How's that for a good news? But it's always better to get to your destination in Europe without delay. Have a wonderful vacation!
